Based on the research of Wes Davis, this workshop aims to to equip child therapists with practical skills to conduct effective parent consultations that build therapeutic alliances while maintaining child confidentiality and trust.

This series of experiential workshops gave me the tools and strategies I needed to build a Child-centered play therapy practice.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will demonstrate effective techniques for transforming parent resistance into therapeutic alliance by successfully completing 2 - 3 role-play scenarios involving resistant parent situations.
  • Participants will apply confidentiality-preserving communication strategies by identifying and articulating at least 3 specific methods for engaging parents while protecting child trust during practice exercises.
  • Participants will develop a personalized parent communication action plan that includes specific empathy-building techniques, resistance management strategies, and confidentiality protocols for implementation in their own practice.

“This training is perfect for someone working toward their Registered Play Therapy Credential.”
